Coach Chaffin enters his 36th year in baseball... 4 Years as A D-1 Assistant Coach, 3 years as a Special Assignment Scout (Kansas City Royals), 29 years as a high school coach at Cookeville High School.

He has served on 2 U.S.A. Coaching Staffs (2010 – 18u and 2017 - 12u)

In 2019, Coach Chaffin was one of two high school speakers asked to speak on the main stage at the ABCA Convention in Dallas, Texas in front of 7,000 Baseball Coaches.

He has spoken or worked camps in Canada, Taiwan, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Ohio, Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Arizona, Alabama, Minnesota, Missouri, California, Arizona, and Indiana, Texas, California, and Michigan

He has spoken at the National High School Baseball Coaches Association on three separate occasions.

A founder and Past President of the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association, he currently sits on the Executive Board.

He is a former Two-Time Teacher of the Year and a 15 time Teacher of The Month. He holds a degree in Sociology with a Masters Degree in Instructional Leadership.

He is married to his wife Sheila and has three daughters, Kaitlin (31), Molly (28), and Lily (20). He is the grandcoach to Magnolia who is four years old.

He has completed three marathons, holds two records at his high school as a player, Hit By Pitch in a Career (25) and a fielding percentage of 1.000.

He holds the record for appearances by a pitcher in TN JUCO for a season with 52.
